Sunil Vedam was invested as our new Beaver leader,  Red Panda.

Congratuations Red Panda, we are looking forward to many adventures with you!

We also say goodbye to Warthog, who after many, many years being our Beaver leader is moving on. We would like to thank her for all of her time volunteering with us – creating long lasting memories for our current Beavers and those Beavers who have gone before us. We wish her all the very best for the future and will be presenting her with something shortly so watch this space!

Great fun and another success on the banks of the River Thames this year. Our Sea Scouts ran the Stake Boats and our Trustees and Parents ran the catering with nearly £4000 raised for our Scout Group!

Thanks to all who volunteered and a special thank you to Malcolm Paine, one of our Trustees for arranging this for us.

We cheered on Jonathan Paine (Malcolm’s youngest son), one of our former Sea Scouts, rowing for Henley Rowing Club and watched him win his race. Looking forward to the Reading Regatta 2027!

The Beavers and Cubs came together at Paddicks Patch to complete the assault course and enjoy games, a great time was had on the last meeting of the Summer term.

The Beavers enjoyed the afternoon looking after our environment taking part in a local litter pick with EASI, the Earley Environmental Group.

Beavers enjoyed their afternoon in the sunny park with lots of games including crab football, scrambling across the grass on their hands and feet trying to score a goal. A perfect afternoon of playing outside and making great memories together.

Our Cubs set up camp at Ferny Crofts in the New Forest during half term where they spent three nights under canvas. The facilities are amazing at Ferny Crofts and the Cubs enjoyed hikes, tunneling, climbing, pioneering, kite making and cooking their dinner on triangias ending each day with a camp fire. Brilliant time had by all, thank you to all involved for this amazing experience.

The Cubs enjoyed Dragon Boating on the glorious River Thames and are looking forward to more outdoor adventures in the coming months!

Beavers enjoyed a fantastic evening in the woods at Paddicks Patch. They completed the obstacle course and roasted marshmallows on the camp fire.

Thank you, as always, to our volunteers who helped make this a brill time for all.

The Beavers enjoyed a hike around Whiteknights Lake at the University of Reading campus, exploring nature with a scavenger checklist and enjoying the glorious weather!

Honouring Our Heroes On Remembrance Sunday 2025

On Sunday, November 9th 2025, representatives from our Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts stood together with the community at Earley St Peter’s Church to take part in the annual Remembrance Sunday Service.

The morning saw our young people join members of the congregation and the wider community, including other members of local organisations and dignitaries, in a poignant gathering around the war memorial within the church grounds. We came together to respectfully commemorate the immense contribution and sacrifice of our brave service men and women.

Our sections worked hard to create hand-crafted wreaths in their meetings the week before, and representatives from the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts had the special honour of placing them upon the memorial.

The moment of reflection was marked by the traditional call of ‘The Last Post’, played by a trumpeter, signaling the start of the two-minute silence. As our sections lowered their flags, it was a deeply moving experience for everyone present.

We are incredibly proud of our young people, who were wonderful ambassadors for our group. They showed exemplary maturity and respect, demonstrating their commitment to being active and thoughtful members of the community. Thank you to all those who took part.
