Sign up for the June Regatta!
We are fast approaching our biggest fundraising event of the year, the June Regatta held on the River Thames at Thames Valley Park.
We’re on the hunt for volunteers to staff our refreshments stand selling bacon butties, teas and coffees. To sign up please click on the link here to launch our googlesheets to sign up for the session.
Christmas Fundraiser raises over £1700
Thanks to all the amazing efforts of our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers sections we raised £1763 on our Christmas Tree and Guess the weight of the cake at Dobbies Garden Centre in Twyford. This will take us another step closer to our goal of replacing our Scout Minibus.
Christmas Tree Fundraiser
All our sections will shortly be taking part in a fundraiser at Twyford Dobbies garden centre with a guess the weight of cake competition as well as helping customers carry Christmas trees to their cars. This follows very successful similar events in recent years which have raised over £2000 for our scout group so this is an really important fundraiser and helps us to keep putting the kind of adventurous activities our members really enjoy.
This will take place on the weekends of 10th/11th of December and 17th/18th of December.
There is a doodle signup page for each activity, please click below:
Cake Poll
Trees Poll
There are separate morning and afternoon session on each of the 4 days. For the tree carrying we’d like at least 5 scouts for each session and 3 adults (a leader/exec + 2 parent helpers. For the cake competition we’d like 2 Beavers/Cubs + 2 parent helpers.
Please note the Sunday Tree sessions will actually run 10:15 to 13:30 and 13:00 to 16:15
Once signed up simply turn up for the event with some warm clothing, rain coat, gloves, drinks & snacks. If you have any questions or problems then let us know.
84th Reading Needs You!
Your local Scout group relies on volunteers giving up their time to help children and young adults develop life long skills.
However, due to the combination of limited volunteers but high demand for spaces in each of our sections we are at risk of having to reduce the number of activities or places that we are able to offer.
We therefore need your help! We have a range of vacancies that we need to fill to ensure we can continue to offer great scouting opportunities to young people in our local area. Some of these roles are purely administrative and others could be shared if you are concerned about the time commitment.
The roles are:
- Group Scout Leader (GSL)
- Long Term Sea Scout Leader, and Assistant Leader
- Assistant Cub Leader x 2
- DBS Administration Support
- IT Coordinator
- Family Camp Planner
- Exec Members (from each Section)
- Secretary
- Property maintenance
- Sailing instructor
